Chihuahuas Bomb Omaha 12-6; Dogs Now Four Games out of First

The El Paso Chihuahuas clubbed four home runs in their 12-6 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers Saturday night at Southwest University Park.

Ryan Schimpf hit two of the homers and now has three longballs in his last two games.

Nick Schulz went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, his second consecutive game with a homer and multiple hits. Christian Villanueva and Rocky Gale also collected three hits for El Paso.

All nine starting batters had a hit or an RBI for El Paso.

Rehabbing San Diego Padres outfielder Travis Jankowski went 1-for-5 in his first game with El Paso since 2015. With Saturday’s win and Albuquerque’s loss, the Chihuahuas are now in a second place tie, four games behind first place Salt Lake.

It’s the first time the Chihuahuas have been in second place since June 20; El Paso is 29-12 when scoring first.
