The El Paso Chihuahuas scored twice in the top of the ninth inning to break a tie and beat the Nashville Sounds 8-6 Tuesday at First Tennessee Park. The ninth-inning runs came on two-out RBI singles by Christian Villanueva and Rocky Gale.
El Paso took three of the four games in Nashville and has won back-to-back road series, as the Chihuahuas also won three times in Salt Lake on their last trip.
Villanueva went 2-for-4 with a sacrifice fly and three RBIs in the game. Diego Goris reached base four times with two hits and two walks, his second consecutive multi-hit game.
Rocky Gale had two hits and a walk and has reached base three times or more in his last two contests. Franchy Cordero scored from first base on a single in the third inning. He ran with the pitch, advanced to third on Carlos Asuaje’s hit to left field and rounded third when the throw went to second base.
Keith Hessler and Jason Jester had scoreless one-inning outings, with Jester picking up his first Triple-A save. The Chihuahuas have played eight games all-time at First Tennessee Park and won seven of them.
El Paso does not play on Wednesday.
