The El Paso Chihuahuas won their final regular season home game Thursday, beating the Fresno Grizzlies 5-1.
Chihuahuas’ starter Chris Huffman allowed one run in six innings and has surrendered only three runs in his last 22.2 innings.
Nick Buss went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and is now batting .353 on the season. Franchy Cordero went 4-for-4 in the win.
One night after six scoreless relief innings to close an extra-inning win, the Chihuahuas’ bullpen had shutout relief outings from Kevin Quackenbush and Kyle McGrath Thursday.
The victory gave the Chihuahuas a sweep over Fresno, El Paso’s first sweep since July 7-9 versus Salt Lake. The Chihuahuas have won six consecutive games, a season high. El Paso finished their eight-game homestand 7-1.
El Paso went 19-10 in August.
