Chihuahuas maul Memphis, trail Las Vegas by half game

The El Paso Chihuahuas scored in five different innings of their 8-1 victory over the Memphis Redbirds Wednesday at AutoZone Park. Hunter Renfroe went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs in his Triple-A debut. Renfroe was one of five Chihuahuas’ batters to collect multiple hits.

Daniel McCutchen pitched 5.1 shutout innings in his eighth win of the season. McCutchen has allowed only one run in his last 12.1 innings of work. A ninth-inning run by Memphis held the Chihuahuas from their second shutout of the year.

El Paso has won 22 of its last 32 games and is now 10 games over .500 for the first time in team history. The Chihuahuas have outscored opponents 22-6 over their last three games. El Paso is in second place, a half game out of first, over the Las Vegas 51s, the first place team in the Southern Division.
