Chihuahuas set to celebrate ‘Opening Day at Home’ on Tuesday

With professional baseball on pause, the El Paso Chihuahuas are inviting fans to enjoy a virtual opening day from the best seats in the house – their own homes.

On Tuesday, April 14th – what would have been the opening home game of the 2020 season, baseball fans can celebrate nonetheless.

Fans will have the opportunity to enjoy a rebroadcast of the home opener from the 2016 Pacific Coast League Championship season.

The virtual rebroadcast will include commentary from Tim Hagerty, the voice of the Chihuahuas and inning breaks will include contests hosted by the Chihuahuas onfield emcee, Andy Imfeld. Included will be a virtual postgame Fireworks Spectacular.

The Chihuahuas are encouraging fans to participate from home in the fun, Chihuahuas home game traditions, which include:

  • Virtual Game of Catch: Film yourself catching a baseball on your right side and then throwing it to your left.
  • Virtual Dizzy Bat: Compete against someone in your household and send us the video to
  • Wear Your Chihuahuas Swag: Post your favorite Chihuahuas Baseball Pictures with the hashtag #OpeningDayAtHomeEP.
  • Enter to win prizes during the stream here: Opening Day at Home Contest.
