Chihuahuas Shutout Sacramento 3-0
Bryan Rodriguez pitched seven shutout innings in the El Paso Chihuahuas’ 3-0 win over the Sacramento River Cats Saturday night at Southwest University Park.
Rodriguez has thrown 12 innings for El Paso this season and has not allowed a run. It was the Chihuahuas’ fifth shutout of the year, the most in team history.
Alex Dickerson hit a ground ball up the middle in the first inning and hustled his way to an RBI double on the play to give El Paso a 1-0 lead. The Chihuahuas added a second run in the third inning on Austin Hedges’ two-out RBI double.
Ryan Schimpf hit a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth, his team-leading 14th homer of the year, to give the Chihuahuas a 3-0 advantage. Schimpf has seven home runs in his last 11 games.
San Francisco Giants outfielder Angel Pagan led off for Sacramento on a Major League injury rehab assignment Saturday and went 1-for-3 with two strikeouts.
