File: Cory Spangenberg’s (#3) RBI triple in the first inning made it 4-1 and Jabari Blash’s (#34) two-run, opposite field home run onto the top of the Big Dog House got El Paso within one of the Aces.
After scoring only four runs in their previous five games, the El Paso Chihuahuas exploded for 10 runs and 14 hits in a 10-5 victory over the Reno Aces Saturday night at Greater Nevada Field.
Bryan Rodriguez allowed only one earned run in his six-inning start and has a 0.75 ERA through his first three Chihuahuas outings.
Jose Pirela went 4-for-4 with two doubles and a home run in the win, while Franchy Cordero went 2-for-5 with two home runs to left field and five RBIs. The left-handed hitting Cordero now has four homers, with three of them traveling out to left field.
Cory Spangenberg, Collin Cowgill and Tony Cruz also had multiple hits for the Chihuahuas in the win.
Saturday was the first game that the Chihuahuas won after the opponent scored the first run of the game. El Paso tied a team record with five errors Saturday.
Michael Dimock pitched two scoreless relief innings for El Paso.
