Christmas, New Year’s holiday schedules for city, county & ISDs

As we approach Christmas and New Year’s, various government and school offices have now posted their holiday schedules. Below is a compilation of their schedules, which will be updated as more offices submit their hours of operation.

City of El Paso:

In observance of the December holiday season, the following operational schedule changes will be made to allow city employees time to celebrate the holidays.

City Hall and all City department administrative offices will be closed from Thursday, December 24, 2015 through January 3, 2016.

City Hall and all administrative offices resume regular business hours at 7 a.m. on Monday, January 4, 2016.

Garbage & Recycling Collections:

• No collections on Friday, Dec. 25, and Friday, Jan. 1

• Friday collections will be Saturday, Dec. 26 and Saturday, Jan. 2

* Sun Metro will be on a special holiday schedule on Friday, Dec. 25 and Friday, Jan. 1. Only 25 routes will be operational on these two dates. See Sun Metro’s schedule newspaper, visit www.sunmetro.net or call (915) 212-3333 for complete details.

* The Downtown Art & Farmers Market will be closed on Saturday, January 2.

The following will be closed Christmas Eve and Day and New Year’s Eve and Day:

The holiday schedule is posted on the “City Holiday Schedule” banner at www.elpasotexas.gov


UTEP will be on a winter holiday schedule beginning Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015. Regular hours and staffing will resume Monday, Jan. 4, 2016.

The campus, including University Communications, will be completely closed Thursday, Dec. 24; Friday, Dec. 25; and Friday, Jan. 1.

The Office of University Communications and several other offices will have limited staff on Monday, Dec. 28; Tuesday, Dec. 29; Wednesday, Dec. 30; and Thursday, Dec. 31. All other offices will be closed.

Offices that will be open on those days include:

President’s Office, Human Resources, Dean of Students Provost’s Office, Enrollment Services, University Library, Academic Advising, University Police, Mail Services, University Development, Student Business Services, Graduate Student Services, Facilities Services, University Relations, Information Technology Services, Accounting and Business Services, Institutional Advancement, Vice President for Business Affairs, Vice President for Student Affairs


El Paso Community College (EPCC) Enrollment Services will be open over the College’s winter break: 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., Mondays, December 21st, 28th and Tuesdays, December 22nd, 29th. Staff will be available to answer spring registration questions face to face and by phone at the Valle Verde campus Enrollment Services Center.

The offices of Admissions and Registration, Financial Aid, Veteran’s Affairs, Counseling and Cashier will be open. Visit the EPCC staff at 919 Hunter or call 915-831-EPCC (3722).

All other offices will be closed for the winter break from Monday, December 21st 2015 through Friday, January 1st, 2016. College offices will reopen for regular business on Monday, January 4, 2016.

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso

TTUHSC El Paso Holiday Closures

 Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso) will be closed Christmas Eve, Thursday, Dec. 24 and Christmas Day, Friday, Dec. 25 as well as New Year’s Eve,Thursday, Dec. 31 and New Year’s Day, Friday, Jan. 1.

The closure includes most of the Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso clinics.

The TTUHSC El Paso libraries will be closed December 24 through 27, and December 31 through January 3. They are open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. December 28 through December 30.

Classes and regular hours of operation for the rest of the campus will resume Monday, Jan 4, 2016.

El Paso County:

Dona Ana County:

Doña Ana County offices will be closed Thursday, Dec. 24, Friday, Dec. 25, Thursday, Dec. 31, and Friday, Jan. 1, to allow employees time with their families during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

The administrative offices of the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department will be closed, but law enforcement and emergency services in the field will be continuous, with saturation patrols and DWI checkpoints planned throughout the holiday period.

Village of Vinton:

The Village of Vinton City Hall will be closing for the holidays from December 21, 2015 through January 1, 2016. City Hall will resume normal business hours on Monday, January 4, 2015 at 8:00 a.m. Those needing to conduct business at City Hall, offices will be open until December 18, 2015 at 4:30 p.m.

The Public Works Department will remain open through the holiday closure with the exception ofDecember 24 – 25 and December 31 – January 1, 2016For any public works emergencies contact call (915) 383-6993.

Socorro ISD:

The winter break for SISD students will be from Dec. 21 through Jan. 4. Students will return to classes on Jan. 5. Faculty and staff return on Jan. 4 with staff development scheduled for that day. SISD offices and schools will be closed from Dec. 21 through Jan. 1 and will re-open on Jan. 4. In case of an emergency, please contact SISD Police Services Dispatch at 937-4357.

Ysleta ISD:

Ysleta Independent School District offices and campuses will be closed for the two-week winter break beginning Monday, Dec. 21, through Friday, Jan. 1. Employees, including teachers, are scheduled to return to work on Monday, Jan. 4. Students will resume classes on Wednesday, Jan. 6.

Canutillo ISD:

Canutillo ISD will be closed for Winter Break beginning Monday, December 21, 2015, through Monday, January 4, 2016. Business operations will resume on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, while student classes will resume onThursday, January 7, 2016.
