City Grant Program Creates Community Garden in Northeast El Paso

The City of El Paso Community and Human Development Department received a $15,000 grant from Cities of Service.

The Northeast Bowling Family YMCA was awarded a portion of the grant for their community garden.

The garden project includes 35 raised bed plots, which community members can rent to grow and harvest their own produce. These five new plots will be dedicated as demonstration plots for teaching different gardening techniques.

Volunteers will be completing the garden project by building the remaining five demonstration plots and planting native plants that will help attract pollinators.

More than 70 native plants that will be planted.
