City immunization program provides Flu Shots for Eligible Children

Officials with the City of El Paso Department of Public Health announced that their Immunization Program is offering free flu vaccines for children 6 months to 18 years old who qualify under the Texas Vaccines for Children criteria.

“Reducing the number of flu cases will also reduce the number of flu-related hospitalizations, which in turn will help keep hospital rooms available for those being treated for COVID-19 infections and other serious illnesses or conditions,” DPH officials shared.

In addition, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that individuals receive a flu shot every year as protection against serious illness due to the flu.

To schedule an appointment, call (915) 212-6555. Residents are reminded that all individuals getting the flu shot will be required to wear a face covering.

Eligible criteria are as follows:

  • Medicaid eligible
  • Uninsured/Underinsured: children with partial or no insurance coverage
  • America Indian or Alaskan Native
  • Enrolled in CHIP (El Paso First)
