Thanks to a new Department of Public Health program known as the Be Well El Paso Program, the City of El Paso is redoubling its efforts to empower El Pasoans to live a healthy lifestyle by offering enhanced services for obesity prevention.
On Wednesday, officials announced the new program, as part of the City’s Live Active El Paso initiative, and in collaboration with other community partners.
“Be Well El Paso aims to help individuals and families take a holistic approach to live a more balanced lifestyle,” city officials shared via a news release. “The program offers special health coaches trained to help individuals identify health goals and become proactive participants in their self-health management.”
In addition to providing health coaches, the Be Well El Paso Program teaches participants how to read nutrition labels, provide tips on what healthy options to choose while grocery shopping, offer valuable information for expectant mothers-to-be and much more.
According to the city, participants will also receive information on different types of strength training, endurance exercises, flexibility exercises and exercise planning. This program will assist participants in learning simple steps that they may easily implement in their everyday lives to develop and maintain a strong sense of wellness.
“The City encourages the community to get started and learn how easy it can be to learn better health behaviors, control weight, increase energy levels, prepare healthy snacks, and more through the Be Well El Paso Program, as part of the Live Active El Paso Initiative,” program officials added.
