City, Neighborhood Associations prepare for 2020 Great American Cleanup

The 2020 Great American Cleanup is set for March 28th, and the city is again inviting the public to take part in the annual event.

The City’s Environmental Services Department (ESD), Streets and Maintenance Department (SAM), and local neighborhood associations will come together from 7:30 a.m. to noon on March 28 to beautify neighbors citywide.

This annual event is dedicated to keeping communities across the nation clean, safe, healthy, and to educate citizens about the proper disposal of waste.

ESD hosts two citywide cleanups each year: the Great American Cleanup every fourth Saturday in March and the Neighborhood Cleanup held every fourth Saturday in September.

There will be 25 cleanup sites located throughout El Paso, with a roll-off trash dumpster where residents can dispose of extra trash or large or bulky items.

Roll-off dumpsters will be accepting the following items:

  • Mattresses
  • Furniture
  • Yard waste

Roll-off dumpsters will NOT be accepting the following items:

  • Household hazardous waste materials (paint, motor oil, and chemicals)
  • Tires
  • Batteries of any kind
  • E-waste (cell phones, appliances, computers, etc.)

These items may be taken to any of the City’s five Citizen Collection Stations.  For more information, please visit the ESD’s webpage or call (915) 212-6000.
