City’s Neighborhood Improvement Program Now Accepting Applications for Projects

Applications are now being accepted for the 4th round of competitive public small-scale neighborhood improvement projects. Applications will be accepted from January 4 through April 9.

The 2012 Quality of Life Bond included $10 million for physical improvement projects under the Neighborhood Improvement Program (NIP), which is open on scheduled funding cycles.

The NIP provides the opportunity for recognized neighborhood associations and civic associations to request small-scale permanent physical improvement projects to enhance the quality of life in their neighborhoods.

Funds are allocated equally among City Representative districts. Each district will receive $250,000 for NIP Round 4, and project requests are competitive between neighborhood associations within the same district.

Project requests must be on City-owned land or city public-right-of-way.  NIP funds many not be used for purchase or acquisition of land or other property.

NIP guide and applications are available online or can be picked up at 801 Texas Avenue, 3rd floor – Neighborhood Services Division. Applications can be submitted via mail, email, or in-person and must be received by April 9.

For more information, interested residents can call 915.212.1680.
