The City of El Paso will be partnering with various organizations and law firms to present the “Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA)/State Bar of Texas (SBOT) Government Law Section – El Paso Roadshow” on December 9, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.
The event will be held at the El Paso Public Library, 501 N. Oregon Street, in the Main Auditorium. Registration will start at 12:30 p.m. and is free for all TYLA and SBOT Government Law Section Members. The non-member fee is $50.00 at the door.
The El Paso Roadshow is a Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program created with the purpose of providing attorneys in the far-reaching areas of the state with legal educational content typically provided in other metropolitan areas of the state.
The event provides attorneys with 3.25 hours of MCLE Credit (0.75 ethics). The topics include: (1) Texas Tort Claims Act – Basics; (2) Government Law – Case Law Update; (3) Transitioning In/Out of Government Law; (4) Interlocal Agreements: Contracting with other Governmental Entities; (5) Handling your First Trial/Appeal; and (6) “What is it Worth? How we go about ethically evaluating and settling employment law cases.”
Speakers will include Michael A. Shaunessy (McGinnis Lochridge, Austin); Ryan Henry (Law Offices of Ryan Henry, PLLC, San Antonio); Andrew Dornburg (The Law Office of Andrew Dornburg, Richmond); and Elaine Edwards (Deats, Durst & Owen, PLLC, San Antonio).
After the event, attendees will have the opportunity to visit with the CLE speakers and other distinguished guests, including TYLA Vice President, Sally Pretorius (Koons Fuller, Dallas/Fort Worth); SBOT – Government Law Section Secretary and Enid Howard (City of Houston Legal Department). The meet & greet event will be hosted by the Delgado, Acosta, Spencer, Linebarger & Perez, LLP; El Paso Bar Association; and El Paso Young Lawyers Association.
