City plans improvement at three area libraries, community meetings scheduled

The City of El Paso’s Capital Improvement Department has scheduled three community meetings for the public to learn more about improvements to three area libraries.

Starting next week, meetings will be held at the Jose Cisneros, Dorris Van Doren and Esperanza Acosta Moreno libraries.

Officials share that these projects are part of the City of El Paso’s “commitment to enhancing the quality of life for El Pasoans through the creation of recreational, cultural and educational environments.”

The scheduled work, designed to improve the experience for visitors to the library, include roof repairs, new equipment and even expansions.

Specific work at each library includes:

Jose Cisneros Library: Roof repairs, installation of infrastructure for self-check-out machines and computers, expansion of the facility’s meeting room, modifications to the patio and installation of a book drop off box.

Dorris Van Doren Library: Roof repairs, new interior paint, self-check-out machines, infrastructure for computers and printers and carpet replacement for the facility.

Esperanza Acosta Moreno Library: Roof repairs, infrastructure for self-check-out machines and computers, expansion to the facility’s meeting room, modifications to the patio and installation to the book drop off box.
