City Rep. Svarzbein hosting dual community clean up events in celebration of Earth Month
City Representative Peter Svarzbein announced Wednesday a community clean up event to be held by his office in celebration of Earth Month.
Rep. Svarzbein said, “It is really important that we are aware of the impact we have on the environment, but also what we can do help. I plan on coordinating more clean up events, working with community organizations and volunteers across the district; not just on Earth month, but throughout the year.”
The day of action will be on Saturday, April 24th, from 9am- 12pm at two separate locations. The two locations to meet up to volunteer and clean up are:
- Westside Community Park (7400 High Ridge)
- Billy Rogers Arroyo Nature Preserve (Tennis Club Parking Lot on Virginia)
The El Paso District 1 office is hosting the event in coordination with community partners:
Kern Place Association Rim Area Neighborhood Association
Mountain Action Sports Star City Neighborhood Association
El Paso Parks + Rec El Paso Streets + Maintenance
El Paso Tennis Club
Aside from community outreach, Rep. Svarzbein has been communicating the need to explore options to activate solar potential through a City climate change action plan.
“There is so much work that we can do that highlights the character and resiliency of El Paso. From capitalizing on our open space via tourism to maximizing alternative energies in the form of solar energy, the environment plays too much of a role to take it for granted. We must act on climate change,” said Rep. Svarzbein.
