Local health officials have been working with the State to validate delayed local results issued to the Department of Public Health conducted over the last three CDC weeks in order to accurately represent testing numbers.
“The State and the contractor have been working diligently to address the City’s concerns,” said Assistant Fire Chief Jorge A. Rodriguez, Emergency Management Coordinator.
“The State and contractor have significantly improved the wait times at the three State-managed locations; and they have also identified and corrected process delays in issuing the results, so the community will now be able to get their test results back in 3 to 5 days.”
City officials say the results have been retroactively placed in the appropriate CDC week and positivity rates for those weeks will be adjusted accordingly.
Health officials have been working with the State and contractor, HONU, to identify and remedy the process delays from the State sites.
The State transitioned from the Texas Military Department Mobile Testing Team to the private contractor, HONU, on July 15.

With the new adjustments, the cumulative number of positive cases remains at 16,936, of which 12,388 have recovered. There are currently 4,241 active cases.
As reported earlier, the State testing has been extended through August 29, 2020. The sites are open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the following dates and locations:
- Nations Tobin Recreation Center; 8831 Railroad Dr., El Paso, TX
- El Paso Community College Valle Verde Campus, 919 Hunter Dr., El Paso, TX
- SISD Student Activities Complex, 1300 Joe Battle Blvd., El Paso, TX
The public is reminded to check their junk/spam email folders for the emailed test results. Individuals without an email address, will receive a phone call.
