City to host public meetings on 2019 Public Safety Bond ahead of Nov. 5th Vote

This week the City of El Paso will host two meetings and participate in two additional community meetings to share information about the proposed 2019 Public Safety Bond scheduled to be on the November 5, 2019 ballot.

According to city officials, the proposed bond is the City’s plan to use voter approved bonds to pay for public improvements for the Police and Fire Departments, including vehicles and equipment.

“If approved by the voters, the proposed projects would be funded by the City issuing general obligation bonds,” city officials shared via a news release. “The bonds are a debt that the City would pay back over time from taxpayer dollars.”

Since calling the election, the City has shared the bond information at 20 meetings throughout the community.
