Officials with the City of El Pas announced Friday that they have partnered with The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) to provide a COVID-19 mega testing site.
The testing mega site, located at at 3333 North Mesa, is a collaboration with UTEP, the City’s Department of Public Health and the Office of Emergency Management. The testing is FREE, and no appointments are needed.
Officials add that the entrance to the site will be from Sun Bowl Drive at Kern Drive. Health officials urge the community to get tested at any of the free testing sites.
“Infected persons with little to no symptoms can still spread the virus to others and the people they spread it to may become seriously ill or even die,” officials said.
The mega site will offer testing options to include nasal or saliva PCR tests and results will be available within 24 to 48 hours. The site will include the following options:
- Lanes for the public
- Two (2) dedicated lanes for UTEP Miners (students, employees + their household members in the same vehicle). A valid Miner Gold Card is required to access the UTEP lanes.
- For individuals without a vehicle near the entrance to the building on site.
The site will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Health officials also remind the public to continue wearing face coverings, wash your hands frequently and watch your distancing, regardless of whether you have or have not yet received the vaccine.
