Clint ISD staffers kick off school year; Bell schedule released

More than 1700 Clint Independent School District employees kicked off the 2015-2016 school year during the district’s annual convocation August 17th.

The annual ceremony celebrated the start of a new academic year. Keynote speakers included School Board President James R. Pendell and Superintendent of Schools Juan I. Martinez. Assistant Superintendents of Elementary and Secondary Education, Esther McCarthy and Josie Perez also spoke at the event along with the 2015 District Teachers of the Year and Max Villaronga, CEO for the El Paso Area Federal Teachers Credit Union.

Martinez gave employees a warm welcome and relayed the message “Hear the Voice” which served to inspire teachers, faculty and staff to continue being of impact as educators and set high expectations for the new school year.

In his speech, Pendell, an educator himself, said he understands the challenges that come with being a teacher but knows the rewards are greater. He also shared his excitement about the recently passed bond. He said the district is blessed to have great facilities.

The District Teachers of the Year, Vanessa Legarreta and Martin Mota, shared their journey as educators and their experience as Teachers of the Year which they described as wonderful.

“This is the start of another great school year,” said Vanessa Legarreta the 2015 Elementary Teacher of the Year.

The first day of school for Clint ISD students is August 24th.  Visit the Clint ISD facebook page to view the photo gallery of the event.
