Community Foundation announces new, community-advised Equity Fund to address social injustice
Wednesday morning, officials with the El Paso Community Foundation announced the launch of the El Paso Equity Fund.
“Demonstrations that followed the May 25 killing of George Floyd are powerful reminders of the inequities, inequalities and injustices that stubbornly persist in our world,” EPFC officials shared.
“His death catalyzed a global movement that is reshaping the way society thinks about race, women’s rights, sexual identity, religion, and ethnicity.”
Foundation officials added that “this cultural reformation is reverberating in several ways, including the rule of law, law enforcement methods, and the appropriateness of honoring people who led the Confederacy during the Civil War.”
A donation to the El Paso Equity Fund in the El Paso Community Foundation will help the El Paso borderland community address issues of inequality in our community, advised by community members committed to ethical, logical and peaceful action.
