The City of El Paso and its partners invite the community to celebrate the start of the holiday season with the kick-off to WinterFest, presented by the Hospitals of Providence and Providence Children’s Hospital.
The celebration is scheduled from noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, in Downtown El Paso.
The launch to WinterFest will be highlighted with the traditional Scherr Legate Celebration of Lights Parade and Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony at San Jacinto Plaza that begins at 5:30 p.m.
The City’s annual light parade will march through various downtown streets including the Arts Festival Plaza and San Jacinto Plaza.
In addition to the parade, day festivities include a holiday market on the pedestrian pathway, various booth and food vendors, the popular ice-skating rink, a winter-themed café, and festive lights.
Celebrating its fourth year, the WinterFest season will run from November 23 to January 5. San Jacinto Plaza will light up the heart of downtown and will be host to holiday entertainment every weekend.
Special events and holiday programs are scheduled from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday to Sunday, during the season.
The Sun City Express train sponsored by the El Paso Locomotive FC will run through the highly decorated and improved pedestrian pathway (space between Southwest University Park and Convention Center). In addition, there will be an abundance of winter-themed attractions, holiday shopping, seasonal food and drinks, and much more.
The City of El Paso and El Paso Live have partnered with the El Paso Downtown Management District (DMD) to make the event come alive. Ten City departments, including the El Paso International Airport and the El Paso Zoo, have come together to make a memorable WinterFest season.
