Conference Celebrates 100 Years of Women at UTEP

In honor of Women’s History Month, The University of Texas at El Paso will celebrate 100 years of women at UTEP during the 8th Annual Women’s History Month Conference.

The conference is hosted by UTEP’s Women’s and Gender Studies Program in partnership with UTEP’s chapter of the Triota National Women’s Studies Honor Society.

“This conference is great for faculty to mentor students, to learn from their students, for staff to share their experiences, for students to mentor each other, and for us to learn, grow and be motivated to take action,” said Maissa Khatib, Ph.D., associate professor of practice for UTEP’s Women’s and Gender Studies Program. “With the Women’s History Month Conference, we commit to address issues of equity, inclusion and social justice for women, men and LGBTQA members of our UTEP community at a personal level as well as at broader community, state, national and global levels.”

The aim of the annual conference is to create a space and opportunities for scholars to present on women and gender-related topics in their fields. Local, national and international scholars will participate in the event for an interdisciplinary and cross-generational exchange of knowledge, experiences and efforts.
