Here’s a look at the project closures for the week ahead for the Connect10 project in East-Central El Paso and TxDoT projects area wide. Highlighted are significant closures, and complete closure lists via hyperlinks are included below.
Intermittent alternating closures on Durazno Avenue and Rosa Avenue will continue between Uva Place and Bowie Street next week as crews continue placing pre-cast concrete bridge deck panels on a new direct connector ramp which will connect southbound US 54 to the Bridge of the Americas.
The closures will not be continuous; both streets will not be closed simultaneously.
The exact dimensions of each precast panel varies, but an average size panel is 8 feet by 5½ feet. The panels weight in at about 2,100 pounds each. To lift the massive panels into place, crews have brought in a 160 foot crane which will place the panels on to the new ramp which will be approximately 75 feet above the driving surface of Interstate 10.

Pothole Repair Project
Monday, May 4 through Friday, May 8
9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Mesa (SH-20) southbound from Remcon to Sunland Park alternate lane closures.
- Crews will be working on asphalt repair to potholes.
Transmountain Project
Monday, May 4 through Friday, May 8
7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Loop 375 westbound/eastbound reduced to one lane in both directions from Tom Mays Park to second rest area. Bike lane will be closed.
- Detour – I-10 in both directions to US-54 until further notice.
- Crews will be working on demolishing eastbound lanes.
Zaragoza Overlay Project
Sunday, May 3 through Thursday, May 7
Nightly, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Zaragoza from North Loop to Gateway West northbound/southbound alternate lane closures.
- Detour – Zaragoza northbound/eastbound use alternate lanes.
- Crews will be working on flexible pavement repairs.
I-10 Ramp Improvements Project – Phase 2
Monday, May 4 through Friday, May 8
9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Airway turnarounds in both directions closed.
- Viscount/Hunter turnarounds in both directions closed.
- Hawkins turnarounds in both directions closed.
- Crews will be pouring concrete.
- Gateway East/West from Viscount/Hunter to Airway alternate lane closures.
- Crews will be removing and installing traffic signs.
Sunday, May 3 through Thursday, May 7
Nightly, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Gateway East from Airway to Humble complete closure.
- Detour – left on Airway northbound and Airway turnaround from west to east.
- Crews will be concrete paving.
Long-Term Closures (until further notice)
- Viscount southbound to Gateway West right turn lane closed.
Mesa Rehabilitation Project
Monday, May 1 through Friday, May 8
7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Mesa northbound between University and Baltimore right lane closed.
- Crews will be milling roadway.
Guardrail Repair Project
Friday, May 8
9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- I-10 eastbound connecting ramp from US-54 to I-10 right lane closed.
- I-10 at Paisano off-ramp complete closure.
- Crews will be repairing guardrail.
Mesa (SH-20) Safety Improvement Project
Monday, May 4 through Friday, May 8
8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Mesa between Festival and Crown Point alternate lane closures.
- Mesa between Cincinnati and Gregory alternate lane closures.
- Mesa between Castellano and Montecillo alternate lane closures.
- Follow all detours until further notice.
- Crews will be working on traffic signal improvements.
I-10 Landscape Improvements
Monday, May 4 through Friday, May 30
Daily, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and continuous until further notice
- I-10 alternating eastbound and westbound left and right lane closures between Eastlake Boulevard and Horizon Boulevard
- I-10 alternating eastbound and westbound entrance and exit ramps to include turnaround
- Closure is necessary for construction of landscape improvements to include excavation, ground cover, modular block planters, concrete and maintenance
I-10 Connect
Thursday, May 7, and Friday, May 8
Daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- The on-ramp from Gateway Boulevard South to southbound US 54 north of Pershing Drive will be closed to all traffic.
- DETOUR: Enter southbound US 54 south of Pershing Drive.
- Lane closures will be in place in the southbound US 54 Collector-Distributor Lanes between Pershing Drive and Montana Avenue.
- Crews will be placing a new dynamic message sign.
Tuesday, May 5, from 9am to 4pm
- Lane closures will be in place in the southbound US 54 Collector-Distributor Lanes between Pershing Drive and Montana Avenue.

Thursday, May 7, and Friday, May 8
Daily from 9am to 4pm
- The on-ramp from Gateway Boulevard South to southbound US 54 north of Pershing Drive will be closed to all traffic.
- DETOUR: Enter southbound US 54 south of Pershing Drive.
- Lane closures will be in place in the southbound US 54 Collector-Distributor Lanes between Pershing Drive and Montana Avenue.
Crews will be placing a new dynamic message sign.
The following long-term closures will continue without interruption:
- Ramps F and G, which connect I-10 to Juárez at the Spaghetti Bowl, remain detoured through northbound US 54 to Pershing Drive until further notice.
- Interstate 110, the short freeway spur leading to and from the Bridge of the Americas, remains closed to northbound traffic until further notice.
- The ramp from southbound US 54 to US 62 (Paisano Drive) remains closed until further notice.
- Both turnarounds under US 54 at US 62 (Paisano Drive) remain closed until further notice.
- Intermittent closures on Gateway Boulevard East between Piedras Street and US 62/180 (Paisano Drive).
- Intermittent closures will be in place on Gateway Boulevard West between Boone Street and Palm Street.
- Intermittent closures will be in place on Durazno Avenue, Rosa Avenue and Uva Street.
- Intermittent lane closures will be in place on US 54 between Loop 375 and Spur 601.
- Intermittent lane closures will be in place on Gateway Boulevard East between Piedras Street and US 62/180 (Paisano Drive).
- Lane closures will be in place on eastbound and westbound SH 20 (Alameda Avenue) at US 54 until further notice.
- Lane closures will be in place on eastbound and westbound US 62 (Paisano Drive) between I-110 and US 54 until further notice.
- Lane closures will be in place on Ramp D, which connects southbound US 54 to eastbound I-10 until further notice.
- Lane closures will be in place on Ramp H, which connects eastbound I-10 to northbound US 54, until further notice.
Onramp and offramp closures may begin up to one hour earlier than stated times. All information is subject to change based upon weather and field conditions.
