Connect 10, TxDoT projects, closures and detours for week of November 17

Here’s a look at our project closures for the week ahead, highlighted below are some high impact closures and complete closure lists via hyperlinks are at below.

Motorists heading from Northeast El Paso to Interstate 10 should expect to encounter marked detours on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights next week.

Also at that time, the marked detour for traffic heading from I-10 to Juárez via the Spaghetti Bowl will be temporarily modified.

These changes are necessary so crews can work on an overhead bridge deck and drilled shafts for new bridges and sign structures as part of the I-10 Connect project in Central El Paso.

Tuesday, November 19, through Thursday, November 21

Nightly from 9pm to 5am

  • Ramp D which connects southbound US 54 to eastbound I-10 will be closed to all traffic
  • The collector/distributor (C/D) lanes leading to Ramp K which connects southbound US 54 to westbound I-10 will be closed to all traffic.
  • DETOURS TO I-10: Continue on southbound US 54 and take Exit 20A (US 62/Paisano Drive). Traffic bound for eastbound I-10, will turn left on Paisano, left on Gateway Boulevard North and follow signs to I-10; Traffic bound for westbound I-10, will turn right on Paisano and follow signs to I-10.
  • DETOUR TO JUÁREZ: Traffic bound from I-10 to Juárez via the Spaghetti Bowl, will detour by taking Exit 22B (US 54/Alamogordo/Juárez/Fort Bliss) and continue north, take Exit 24A (Fred Wilson Avenue/Broaddus Avenue/Railroad Drive), turnaround at Fred Wilson, enter southbound US 54 and follow signs to Juárez.

Crews will be working on an overhead bridge deck.

Sunday, November 17, and Monday, November 18

Nightly from 9pm to 5am

  • SH 20 (Alameda Avenue) will be closed to all traffic under US 54.
  • DETOURS: Westbound traffic will continue on US 62 (Paisano Drive) and turn right on Loop 478 (Copia Street) to Alameda. Eastbound traffic will turn left on Loop 478 (Copia Street), right on Gateway Boulevard East and right on Raynolds Street.

Crews will be drilling shafts.

Monday, November 18, through Saturday, November 23

Daily from 9am to 4pm

  • Lane closures will be in place on Ramp H which connects eastbound I-10 to northbound US 54.
  • Lane closures will be in place on Gateway Boulevard East adjacent to Lincoln Park as needed.
  • Intermittent closures of the onramp which connects Gateway Boulevard East to eastbound I-10 at Loop 478 (Copia Street).

Crews will be preparing to widen Ramp H.

Upcoming Complete Closure of US 54 for Utility Work

On the morning of Sunday, November 24, US 54 will be closed to all traffic between I-10 and Loop 375. This closure is necessary so crews can install electrical lines over US 54. Uniformed officers will assist with traffic control on local streets nearby including Findley Avenue and Latta Street.

Long-Term Closures Which Will Remain in Place Next Week

  • Ramp E which connects Gateway Boulevard South to southbound US 54 at Yandell drive remains closed to all traffic.
  • Ramps F and G, which connect I-10 to Juárez at the Spaghetti Bowl, remain detoured through northbound US 54 to Pershing Drive until further notice.
  • Ramp T, which connects Gateway Boulevard North to northbound US 54 north of US 62 (Paisano Drive), remains closed until further notice.
  • Alternating complete closures of Durazno Avenue, Rosa Avenue and Uva Street.
  • Both turnarounds under US 54 at US 62 (Paisano Drive) remain closed until further notice.
  • Intermittent lane closures will be in place on US 54 between Loop 375 and Spur 601.
  • Intermittent lane closures will be in place on Gateway Boulevard East between Piedras Street and US 62/180 (Paisano Drive).
  • Intermittent lane closures will be in place on Gateway Boulevard West between Boone Street and Palm Street.
  • Lane closures are in place on eastbound and westbound SH 20 (Alameda Avenue) at US 54 until further notice.
  • Lane closures are in place on eastbound and westbound US 62 (Paisano Drive) between I-110 and US 54 until further notice.
  • Lane closures are in place on Ramp D, which connects southbound US 54 to eastbound I-10, until further notice.
  • Lane closures are in place on Gateway Boulevard South between Findley Avenue and US 62 (Paisano Drive) until further notice.

Sunday, Nov. 17, and Monday, Nov. 18

Monday, Nov. 18 through Friday, Nov. 22
9 p.m. to 6 a.m. (Nightly)

  • Gateway East Closed at Eastside Road.
  • Hawkins Intersection Closure. No traffic will be allowed to turn under the bridge.
  • Gateway West Closed @ Hawkins On Ramp.
  • Gateway East Closed at Airway Blvd.
  • Crews will be working on placing concrete paving.

Monday, Nov. 18
8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Right turn lane from Gateway West to Northbound Hawkins closed.

Tuesday, Nov. 19
8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Right turn lane from Gateway West to Northbound Hawkins closed.

Wednesday, Nov. 20
8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Right turn lane from Gateway West to Northbound Hawkins closed.

Thursday, Nov. 21
8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Right turn lane from Gateway West to Northbound Hawkins closed

Friday, Nov. 22
8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Right turn lane from Gateway West to Northbound Hawkins closed

Monday, Oct. 28 through Monday, Nov. 18

  • Hawkins at Gateway Blvd East intersection will be closed.
  • No through traffic Northbound or Southbound at the intersection.
  • Gateway Blvd East traffic will continue east on the gateway or turn south on to Hawkins.
  • Northbound traffic on Hawkins will turn right onto Gateway Blvd East.
  • Southbound traffic on Hawkins will turn left onto Gateway Blvd East.

Maintenance

Monday, Nov. 18 through Friday, Nov. 22
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Daily)

  • Center lane closed at Gateway Blvd West and Piedras.
  • Right lane closed at Piedras Northbound between Gateway Blvd East and Gateway Blvd West.
  • Right shoulder closed at US54 Southbound by Cassidy Gate.
  • Right lane closure at SH178 Artcraft East and Westbound between Upper Valley to State Line.
  • Alternate lane closure at Cassidy Overpass between Gateway Blvd North and Gateway Blvd South

District Wide Striping Project

Monday, Nov. 18 through Friday, Nov. 22
9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

  • I-10 alternating eastbound and westbound lanes between Eastlake Boulevard and Horizon Boulevard.
  • Closure is necessary for mobile striping operation.

Monday, Nov. 18 through Friday, Nov. 22
9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

  • I-10 alternating eastbound and westbound lanes between Zaragoza Road and Viscount Boulevard.
  • Closure is necessary for mobile striping operation.
