County resolution helps kick off Bowie’s centennial celebrations

The El Paso County Commissioner’s Court on Monday helped kick-start what will be the centennial celebration of the Bowie Legacy, when Osos Orgullosos from throughout the country celebrate 100 years of La Bowie in 2022.

Commissioners on Monday approved a resolution honoring the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the entity that is now Bowie High School.

The campus began in 1922 as a grade, or elementary school, before being transformed first into a junior high school and eventually into the high school powerhouse of spirit and pride that it is today.

Students, teachers, administrators and alumni gathered at the El Paso County Courthouse to hear the resolution and to share plans for widespread celebrations that currently are being planned.
