Cowboys, trail bosses set up camp this weekend at El Paso Museum of History

Take a step back in time and visit with a trail boss and experience the life of a cattle drover at the El  Paso Museum of History on Saturday, September 12, 2015, from 2-3 p.m.

Scott Green, Curator of Education from the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum, will lead visitors in role playing while teaching about the tools and clothes cowboys used. Visitors can also pretend to be a cowboy as they participate in a cattle drive role-play.

“Cowboys played a large role in the growth and settlement of the southwest. This is a great way to learn who cowboys really were, why they wore certain pieces of clothing. Through role play our visitors can have a taste of how tough life on the cattle trails really was,” said Jaime Knoedler, community engagement coordinator.

Scott Green, a graduate from New Mexico State University with an MA in History he has worked at the Maryland Science Center, the New Mexico Museum of Space History, and White Sands National Monument. Mr. Green has performed at locations throughout New Mexico including El Rancho de las Golondrinas, the New Mexico History Museum, and on the KCOS-TV show Blast Beyond.

He brings the past alive through engaging interpretation, storytelling and dynamic living history performances.
