Thursday night, the two best teams in Major Arena Soccer League’s Southwest Division will battle in a showdown for first place at the El Paso County Coliseum.
The Coyotes, currently in second place, will face the top-ranked Monterrey Flash at 7:35 p.m. Thursday, December 14 at the Coliseum located at 4100 East Paisano. The game was originally scheduled for Friday.
It is also Firefighter Appreciation Night, honoring the El Paso and surrounding area fire department personnel, who will receive free admission with ID.
El Paso, now 5-2, experienced a split decision on the road – a 7-6 tight win over the Ontario Fury on Dec. 10 and a 9-6 loss to the Turlock Express on Dec. 8.
To guide the charge against the Flash, the Coyotes will look to forward Omar Tapia and midfielder Christian Gutierrez. Tapia has 10 goals and six assists, while Gutierrez, who has 12 goals and 14 points, continues to rank among the top scorers in the league.
At 6-0, Monterrey, is one of only three undefeated teams in the entire league, and are coming off back-to-back victories on the road over the Harrisburg Heat. Forward Edgar González leads the Flash with nine goals.
Tickets, which cost $5, $10, $15 and $25, are available at the Coliseum Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 800-745-3000 and online.
