Coyotes Return to Take on Sonora Friday Night

After a long, tough road trip, the El Paso Coyotes arena soccer team is finally back home and looking to get back on the winning path.

The Coyotes will face the Soles de Sonora in a Major Arena Soccer League match at 7:35 p.m. Friday, January 12, at the Coliseum (4100 E. Paisano) in a battle for second place in the Southwest Division.

El Paso, now 5-6, has dropped four straight games, including the last three on the road – 9-5 to Monterrey on December 17, 17-9 to Sonora on December 21 and 7-5 to Monterrey on January 7.

The Coyotes, who sit in second place in the Southwest Division, will look to midfielder Christian Gutierrez to seek a victory over the Soles and remain in second place. Gutierrez, who has 16 goals, is among the top five scorers in the league.

Sonora is now 4-6 and in third place in the division. Standout forward Franck Tayou leads the Soles and the league in scoring with 31 goals. He also is atop the leaderboard with a 3.50 points per game average. Monterrey leads the division at 11-0.
