Doña Ana Community College (DACC) has just received a $20,000 grant to continue a program which offers financial literacy training for students.
The DACC Financial Wellness Program is sponsored by the grant provided by Wells Fargo. The program, which initially began in 2021, offers resources and training to students to help them be successful in college and graduate without debt. Part of the program includes a free non-credit online course that helps students create a working college budget, explore, discover and pursue new college funding sources, utilize campus and community resources, and engage in smart spending and saving habits, while minimizing the need for student loans.
In addition, DACC provides on-demand student financial wellness coaching, delivered by DACC’s Avanza Program.
“This grant will allow DACC to expand student access to financial wellness and planning resources, as well as offer resources to the community,” says Brad Mazdra, director of Academic Advising. “We are here to help students learn financial best practices and practically plan their futures.”
DACC is planning a financial wellness fair in the spring, as well as creating a webpage that will serve as an information hub for resources and events
