Delfosse Ties for Sixth as UTEP Women’s Golf Concludes Wyoming Cowgirl Classic

A final round 299 allowed UTEP to climb a spot to finish 12th out of 22 teams at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club on Tuesday.

For the seventh time this season, Sophie Delfosse was the top finisher for the Miners, tying for sixth with a 3-over par 219 (73-74-72).

Sitting in a tie for 16th entering the final round, Delfosse once again rapidly climbed the leaderboard for the second straight tournament, jumping as high as the top-five thanks to a pair of birdies over her first seven holes on Tuesday. She capped off the tournament with her third top-10 finish of the season.

Of all participants, Delfosse scored best on par-3 holes, finishing at a 3-under.

Delfosse was not the only UTEP golfer to save her best for the final round, as Andrea Ostos shot a 71 to wrap up the two-day event in a tie for 36th with a 9-over par 225 (78-76-71). The 225 was the best score for Ostos since sporting a 221 in the season opener at the USA Intercollegiate in Mobile, Ala.

For Ostos, an eagle on the par-5 16th hole on Tuesday highlighted her tournament.

Tijana Jovicevic Kovacic (235) and Naomi Ramirez (235) each tied for 79th and Marta Romeu Chen (238) tied for 88th to round out the participants for the Miners.

In a field featuring 22 teams and 117 individual participants, Claire Choi of Santa Clara won the individual title with a 3-under par 213. The Broncos would claim the team trophy as well by three strokes over Long Beach State with a 16-over par 880.
