The Department of Public Health (DPH) invites the public to learn more about the department during the annual County Fair Open House on Thursday, February 1, at 5115 El Paso Drive.
The DPH will be transformed into a county fair as employees celebrate the department’s 10th year in existence.
“This annual event is always very festive and is a chance for our employees to celebrate the hard work they put into their jobs all year,” said Public Health Director Robert Resendes. “This is a great opportunity for both the media and the general public to learn about what we do and how we impact lives through our hard work.”
More than a dozen programs will be represented at the event, which will feature information tables, interactive exhibits, and county fair-inspired refreshments.
Tours specifically aimed at local college students begin from 10 a.m. to noon. General public tours start from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The event will culminate with the presentation of the 2018 Pillars of Public Health, which are awarded every year to various members of our community. The award recipients reflect the strength and momentum that is created when individuals and organizations commit themselves to the core principles of public health.
Residents interested in attending the open house are asked to RSVP by sending an email to [email protected].
