The El Paso Museum of History invites the community to celebrate the one-year anniversary of El Paso’s Digital Wall with a family picnic from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, at Cleveland Square.
There will be live performances from Tonatiuh folklorico dancers, Kids-N-Co, Abe Mac Country Band, Contratiempo Latin Music and others. There will also be arts and crafts and child activities. Visitors are welcome to bring food and non-alcoholic beverages to enjoy at the park.
As part of the celebration, the museum will offer free family programming and cake and ice cream inside the museum. In addition, the Digital Wall in Copenhagen, Denmark will have El Paso’s streetscape for 24 hours on Saturday, and one of the Digital Wall panels in El Paso will show Copenhagen’s streetscape as well.
“When the community approved Quality of Life Bond funds to bring the digital wall to El Paso, we knew this would provide a new and innovative way to interact with El Paso’s History,” said Assistant Director of Museum and Cultural Affairs and Interim Director of the El Paso Museum of History Ben Fyffe.
As the first anniversary approaches, the museum is working to reach 10,000 images on the Digital Wall. To upload photos, visit www.digie.org to create an account. Once the account is created, be sure to use keywords to make it easier to search the photos.
