Tuesday evening, officials with the Diocese of El Paso announced the death of 69-year-old Reverend Trinidad Fuentez.
“It is with great trust and hope in the Lord that we also grieve in announcing the passing of our brother in Christ, The Very Rev. Trinidad Fuentez, 69, parish rector of the St. Patrick Cathedral in downtown El Paso,” diocesan officials shared via a news release.
Fr. Trini served the Diocese of El Paso for over 40 years in various parishes, ministries and capacities. Among them he served the parish communities of St. Joseph’s, San Antonio de Padua, St. Joseph’s – Fort Davis, Christ the King – Balmorhea, Santa Lucia, San Elizario, Most Holy Trinity, Queen of Peace and St. Patrick Cathedral.
“The Diocese is in mourning for the loss of this beloved priest,” Bishop Mark Seitz said. “We ask the entire El Paso community to pray for his soul and the souls of all faithful departed.”
For a number of years he served on the Presbyteral Council, Personnel Board and Finance Council, and served as Vicar for several vicariates throughout his priestly service. He also served as Vocation Director for six years, and was loved and respected by his brother priests.
