UPDATE: Diocese of El Paso says missing priest found safe

Late Thursday evening, officials with the Diocese of El Paso confirmed the safe location of Fr. Antonio Martinez Ceballos.

“The Diocese of El Paso would like to thank the El Paso Police department for their diligent efforts in helping to find Fr. Martinez Ceballos,” officials shared via a news release.

The Diocese would also like to thank the El Paso community for their prayers in locating Fr. Martinez Ceballos.

Thursday afternoon, officials with the Diocese of El Paso announced the filing of a missing persons report, as a Lower Valley assistant pastor has gone missing.

The Diocese of El Paso, working with the El Paso Police Department, has filed a missing person’s report for 48-year-old Fr. Antonio Martinez Ceballos, assigned as an assistant pastor of Corpus Christi Parish in the Lower Valley.

According to officials, Fr. Martinez – originally from Columbia – was last seen on Tuesday Evening April 6, 2021 at Corpus Christi Church.

“Our prayers are with Fr. Martinez, and we hope that we can locate him soon,” Bishop Mark Seitz said. “We are grateful to the El Paso Police Department for their assistance and we hope that the community can help us locate him soon.”

The Diocese of El Paso is asking the community that if there is any information in regard to Fr. Antonio Martinez Ceballos’ whereabouts to please contact the El Paso Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Department at (915) 212-4040.
