Dogs Drop 2nd Straight: Isotopes Top Chihuahuas 9-5
The Albuquerque Isotopes scored in their first five innings Friday and beat the El Paso Chihuahuas 9-5. The Isotopes have taken the first two games of the four-game series.
Albuquerque’s Mike Tauchman hit a two-run homer in the first inning, the eighth time in the last 10 games El Paso starting pitching has allowed a run or runs in the first inning.
San Diego lefty Christian Friedrich allowed six runs on six hits in a three-inning injury rehab start. El Paso relievers Carter Capps, Jason Jester and Logan Bawcom all pitched scoreless innings in the loss.
Infielder Jose Rondon went 2-for-4 with two RBI singles on the day he was transferred from Double-A San Antonio.
Ryan Schimpf went 2-for-4 with his first two Triple-A doubles this season and a walk. Jabari Blash went 2-for-4 with a long solo home run to left-center field in the sixth inning.
