Dolphin Terrace Student Advances to Elk’s State Hoop Shoot Competition

Dolphin Terrace Elementary student Danae Gonzalez has qualified to advance to the New Mexico State Elks Hoop Shoot Competition after winning several recent qualifiers.

Danae won 1st place in the Dolphin Terrace Elementary School free throw contest in November and then won 1st place in the El Paso area competition at Wiggs Middle School in December.

In January, she placed 1st in the Elks Hoop Shoot Contest District Competition at Red Mountain Middle School in Deming and will now compete at the New Mexico State Hoop Shoot Competition.

The contest will be held on February 18, 2018 at Cleveland High School in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.

The competition, sponsored by the Elks Club, is a free throw program for youth ages 8 – 13 that culminates in a national competition.  The 2018 Hoop Shoot National Finals will take place April 21, 2018, in Chicago.
