With the summer event season now if full swing, Downtown Ambassadors adorned in purple shirts will now be active on weekends, and event times to assist downtown visitors.
“Since the inception of the program we have learned that greeting visitors to our downtown with a smile goes a long way. Our ambassadors have been trained to assist in providing directions, information, recommendations, and a helping hand. The feeling visitors have when they visit is what they remember, so look for those smiles and purple shirts,” said DMD Executive Director, Joe Gudenrath.
The Downtown Welcome Ambassador Program places friendly, identifiable, knowledgeable and trained ambassadors in public downtown spaces to greet visitors, answer questions, provide maps, and assist people as needed.
The Downtown Management District (DMD) implemented the program in 2016 as a response to a growing downtown and the desire to, as DMD officials say, “help in making the experience for visitors a positive one.”
