Dr. Jose Burgos donates $27k to UMC Foundation

University Medical Center (UMC) Foundation announced Tuesday the donation of $27,500 from Dr. Jose Burgos to help continue high-level care for our community’s sickest patients.

“For over eleven years, I have worked alongside my other colleagues and nursing staff to care for our community’s sick,” said Dr. Burgos.

“I believe in the steadfast work University Medical Center of El Paso carries out to ensure the utmost care whether it be for trauma, oncology patients or most recently those fighting COVID. I am blessed to have received my education through working at UMC while also being able to give back to the hospital who has allowed me the opportunity to provide for my three children, Luciana, David and Mariana Burgos.”

Dr. Burgos has trained and continued to serve the El Paso community with a passion to give back to those who have ensured his success in his medical career.

“I am continually impressed by many things that our physicians do for our hospital and the patients we serve that continue to build upon and strengthen our community,” said R. Jacob Cintron, UMC President & CEO. “Dr. Burgos is an example of compassionate care and generosity of self that inspires our staff and those who know him. Through this donation, his generosity is again evident in a manner that will further affect our care for patients, and I am truly thankful to him.”

Community engagement and philanthropy are at the top of Dr. Burgos’ priorities as he cares for those in the community he now calls home.

“The generosity of the El Paso community has allowed the University Medical Center Foundation of El Paso to assist with the purchase of lifesaving equipment and support specialized programmatic needs,” said Leslie Lujan, Interim Executive Director of El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundation. “The decision of Dr. Jose Burgos to donate today will have a lasting impact for years to come as the hospital continues to grow.”
