El Paso Community College Honors Hispanic Mentors
The El Paso Community College (EPCC) Hispanic Heritage Committee hosted a Mentor’s Recognition on Friday, September 25 as part of series of the 19th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration.
This year’s theme is Hispanics: Be Proud of your Past and Embrace the Future.
“The Diversity and Inclusion Programs Office strives to foster and promote cultural awareness and respect among employees, our students, and the surrounding El Paso communit,” EPCC officials share.
“Our target is to educate and disseminate information that highlights and celebrates the numerous cultures which construct and impact our world.”
The Mentor’s recognition honored influential members of the El Paso community such as Dr. Carmen Olivas-Graham, EPCC Board of Trustees Vice Chair, Dr. Carlos Amaya, EPCC Dean of Architecture, Arts, Math and Science and Hector I. Ocaranza, M.D., MPH, FAAP Pediatrics.
Performing at the event were Elia Esparza, Singer from The Voice, American Idol and La Voz Mexico, Calpulli Mexican Dance, Company New York, Marimba, El Paso Band and Oliva Calderon, Singer from Americas Got Talent and La Reina de La Cancion.
This year’s Master of Ceremonies was KVIA/ABC7 anchor Mauricio Castillo, the Keynote Speaker of the event was District Attorney Elect Yvonne Rosales and El Paso County Judge Ricardo Samaniego,
