The kick-off for the month-long celebration will be on September 16, the Mentor’s Recognition on September 25, and it ends with the annual awarding of the Hispanic Heritage scholarship on October 15.

This year’s celebration will encompass several free events including Online Read-Ins inviting the public and students to read a poem or work of or about a Hispanic and a Virtual Art Show from September to October.

The Mentor’s recognition will honor influential members of the El Paso community such as Dr. Carmen Olivas-Graham, EPCC Board of Trustees Vice Chair, Dr. Carlos Amaya, EPCC Dean of Architecture, Arts, Math and Science, Hector I. Ocaranza, M.D., MPH, FAAP Pediatrics.

“The Diversity and Inclusion Programs Office strives to foster and promote cultural awareness and respect among employees, our students, and the surrounding El Paso community,” EPCC officials shared. “Our target is to educate and disseminate information that highlights and celebrates the numerous cultures which construct and impact our world.”
