Saturday afternoon, the Offices of Constable Oscar Ugarte (Precinct 1), Constable Luis Aguilar (Precinct 4), and Constable Javier Garcia (Precinct 6) will be joining forces to patrol the various areas of El Paso County in response to the significant increase of Covid cases and Covid-related violations.
“The El Paso County Constable’s Office would like to emphasize that the order is valid and enforceable according to the El Paso County Attorney’s Office,” officials shared via a news release.
Citations may be issued to those found to be violating the recent orders issued by County Judge, Ricardo Samaniego. Constables began providing education, issuing warnings and citations last week.
Some violations listed on the order range from failure to wear a face covering, gatherings of more than 10 people, curfew violations which occur between 10:00pm to5:00am, and non-essential businesses that remain open.
Fines that are imposed will be from $250 to $500. The Constable’s Office also asserts that according to the Judge’s Order, businesses must have a health and safety plan posted and in place.
