The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 2005 competed in the 2017 Desert Law Enforcement Explorer Competition on Saturday, April 29, 2017.
The Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post and Community Section prepared and trained for the competition with weekly training sessions.
The competition tested Law Enforcement explorer posts from the southwest region in team and individual events; arrest and search, burglary in progress, crisis negotiation, officer down, emergency field first aid, traffic accident investigation, and traffic stop.
The El Paso Couty Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 2005 placed third in the felony traffic stop event from the 14 competing teams.
The competition took place at the U.S. Army National Guard Recruiting Office in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
