El Paso Coyotes to Battle Sonora in Arena Soccer at Coliseum

The El Paso Coyotes arena soccer team is in search of its third victory of the season and is hoping home-field advantage will be the key.

The Coyotes will face the Soles de Sonora, one of the best teams in the Major Arena Soccer League, at 7:05 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at the El Paso County Coliseum, 4100 East Paisano, on Military Night.

The Coyotes are coming off their first victory on the road after crushing the Rio Grande Valley Barracudas, 11-5, in Hidalgo, Texas, this past weekend.

El Paso, now 2-1, is led by midfielder Christian Gutierrez, who has nine goals and is third best among the league’s leading scorers. Gutierrez, who earned a place on the MASL Team of the Week for the second time this season, leads the league in points per game average with 3.67.

Sonora, who lost in the finals of the MASL Championship last season, has had a rough start to the season, losing twice to Southwest Division leader Monterrey Flash. The Soles, 0-2, will look to forward Anibal Echeverria, who has two goals, to lead the team to its first victory.

Tickets cost $10, $15 and $25, and are available at the Coliseum Box Office, Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 800-745-3000 and online. A special buy-one-ticket, get-one-free offer will be available for all military personnel.
