El Paso Diocese presents check for $73,000 to Juarez for Papal assistance

El Paso Bishop Mark J. Seitz called for a second collection Jan. 9-10, 2016 to help the Juarez Diocese off-set some costs related to their Papal visit and El Paso Catholics came through in a big way.

On Wednesday, Bishop Mark presented Juarez’s Vicar General, Msgr. Jose Rene Blanco, with a check of about $73,000.

Diocese of El Paso officials, via a news release, said “Thank you El Paso for coming through so generously and doing what you can to help ensure a beautiful visit to Juarez by Pope Francis.

A second check for $12,000 was also raised at a private event held to help the Juarez Diocese.
