The El Paso Fire Department is currently accepting applications for Certified Firefighter Trainees.
Applicants are required to have 24 post-secondary semester credit hours in any field of study with a minimum of 2.0 GPA, or at least two years of full-time, active military service with an honorable discharge and a High School diploma or GED.
Applicants must also possess current Texas State Commission on Fire Protection Basic Structural Firefighter Certification (TCFP-Basic FF) and Texas Department of State Health Services Basic Emergency Medical Technician Certification (DSHS-EMT-B) at the time of application.

Selected candidates will go through a paid, eight-week Training Academy, earning $13.95 an hour. Upon completion of the Training Academy, trainees will be promoted to Firefighter, starting at $37,957.27 annually.
