El Paso First Health Plans was honored with the Healthcare Excellence Award for “Excellence in Operations” in recognition of the company being one of the first plans to implement Cognizant Healthcare’s new complaints and appeals module.
Senior Director of Information Systems, Sharon Perkins, was present to receive the award.

El Paso First Health Plans, Inc. is a local, non-profit organization; and a Texas-licensed health maintenance organization (HMO) established by the El Paso County Hospital District to enter into contract with the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) for the purpose of improving access to medical care for STAR, CHIP and CHIP Perinatal recipients in El Paso and Hudspeth Counties.
El Paso First Health Plans promotes access to quality healthcare for children, families and individuals. The organization collaborates with Providers, Members and Stakeholders by building relationships that strengthen the delivery of community healthcare.
The award was presented at the Cognizant Healthcare Conference in San Antonio on May 24, 2017.
