El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce grants $38K+ to county small businesses hit by COVID-19

Friday morning, El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce officials announced that it has distributed upwards of $38,000 to 20 small businesses in El Paso County.

These businesses are located in the outlying areas of the county, such as Socorro, Horizon City, San Elizario, Clint, Fabens, Canutillo, Vinton, and Anthony. The purpose of dispersing this grant money is to help businesses improve their safety measures and procedures during the coronavirus pandemic.

“While the amount of money we have already distributed is substantial, our Chamber still has over $11,000 to give to small businesses in the county of El Paso,” chamber officials share. “The deadline to apply for this money is November 15, 2020.”

The eligibilty requirements for this grant money are that a business must have been in operation since January 1, 2019, and must employ under twenty employees. It also must provide documentation proving the negative impact on the business.

A full list of eligibility requirements is available on our website and in the application package.

Eligible businesses can apply to receive a grant ranging from the amount of $500 to $2,500 and must spend the money on items such as sneeze guards, floor decals for spacing, disinfectant products, and other related items.

“We are extremely gratified and honored to have given so much money to businesses in the county struggling during this pandemic,” CEO Cindy Ramos-Davidson contends, “but there is still a lot of money left to give out…. we urge businesses to take advantage of this opportunity to improve their safety measures as the pandemic persists.”
