El Paso ISD announces finalists for 2016 Educational Support Personnel of the Year Award

Ten outstanding EPISD employees were announced as finalists for the 2016 Educational Support Personnel of the Year Award that recognizes the hourly employees that help provide a quality education for our students.

The finalists range from clerks and custodians, to teachers aides and cafeteria workers.

“Our schools operate the way they do because there are so many people – people who are not teachers or principals – that come together to give students the best learning experience possible,” said Superintendent Juan Cabrera. “The finalists that are being announced today are among those heroes that make school happen, and we are happy to be able to recognize them.”

The finalists are:
•Eddie Ruelas, Truant Officer with the Office of Student Retention and Truancy Prevention
•Isaac Muro, Campus Patrol at LaFarelle Middle School
•Juan Duarte, Assistant Head Custodian at Logan Elementary School
•Bertha Angel, Custodian at Henderson Middle School
•Leslie Cervantes Moran, LPAC Clerk at Newman Elementary School
•Emily Morales, Instructional Paraprofessional at Dowell Elementary School
•Ellen Courtney, Clerk in the Food and Nutrition Services Department
•Abel Carreon, Electrical Foreman with the Maintenance Electrical Shop
•Maggie Caballero, Accounting Clerk with the Maintenance Department
•Auden Valenzuela, Cafeteria Manager at Hornedo Middle School

A panel of independent judges will interview all finalists, and two winners will be announced during a luncheon on March 24 at the Wyndham.
