Officials with El Paso ISD announced that they will hold a public meeting in a week and a half to discuss and hear from the public on their new tax rate.
“Public participation in the discussion is invited,” El Paso ISD officials shared via their website. “The school district has elected to adopt a tax rate after receiving the certified appraisal roll from the chief appraiser of the appraisal district.”
District officials say the meeting is set for 5:00 p.m., August 17 in the El Paso ISD Board Room, at 1014 North Stanton. El Paso ISD adopted the 2021-22 budget on May 11, 2021.
In accordance with Texas Tax Code, Section 26.05(g), the chief appraiser of the appraisal district in which the school district participates has also certified to the assessor for the school district an estimate of the taxable value of property in the school district as provided by the Texas Tax Code, Section 26.01(e).
District officials added that the tax rate that is ultimately adopted at this meeting or at a separate meeting at a later date may not exceed the proposed rate shown below unless the district publishes a revised notice containing the same information and comparisons set out below and holds another public meeting to discuss the revised notice.
